A Literature Inspired Tea Blend
Mad Hatter is a literary raspberry black tea blend inspired by the Mad Hatter, created for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.
“You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.” –Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland.
The Mad Hatter in Lewis Carrol’s world was a wild character who was a very fashionable dresser for the times and wore a big hat with a card reading 10/6 (which was the cost of the hat). Now, doesn’t that remind you of the great Minnie Pearl! He held mad tea parties and
“Mad as a hatter” is an old English saying that describes someone suffering from insanity.. It happens to have been termed in the 1800’s when hat makers suffered from mercury poisoning, which made them mad. The Hatter was never really referred to as ‘mad’ by Lewis Carroll, but he definitely was eccentric. As you should be about this raspberry tea!
The Hatter was quite fond of his riddles, but Alice found the whole thing quite unsatisfactory. Obviously nobody explained to the Hatter that you can’t have a tea party without serving this insanely yummy tea, why that would be just ridiculous.
This blend uses a flavored raspberry black tea as a base and adds the raspberry goodness found in freeze dried raspberries with some mango added just to throw in a little twist on the flavor. The creaminess is due to the vanilla beans that are used to infuse the tea with that hint of vanilla and then removed just prior to packaging. Mad Frills is absolutely the hatter’s new fave when it is iced or cold brewed. Give it a try before your next tea party.

I’ll be honest, the sharp tartness is often what I like least in a raspberry tea – and Mad Frills is perfect because its raspberry tastes like a soft pillow snuggling in with a gentle, blossoming black tea. It tastes rich, bright, and perfect for spring-summer. I strongly suspect it would be amazing iced as well.
Try it paired with fresh cherries, or cherry pie to bring out the best of the fruity notes, or with a classic stroopwafel to make the most of the black tea.

Bought this in a sample size and it did not disappoint. This tea was excellent! The raspberry really came through in the most tasty way! I will be buying this tea full sized! Can’t wait to try it iced!

I liked this tea, but wished the raspberry would have come through more for my taste.

Probably one of the best fruity teas I’ve ever had! I absolutely plan to make iced tea of this once it warms up.
