For those of you that were fans of the almond sunset desert tea which was long ago discontinued by Celestial Seasonings, we have a surprise for you! We are very happy to bring you Déjà Vu, our herbal almond tea that will bring back memories of an almond sunset.
This almond tea will bring back memories as it is inspired by Crosby, Still, Nash & Young's album of the same name. Déjà Vu was the second studio album for Crosby, Stills, & Nash, and their first album as a quartet with Neil Young. It was released in 1970 (we may be dating ourselves) and in 2003 it was ranked #148 on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 greatest albums.
Much like its predecessor, our Déjà Vu almond tea contains a base of almonds, cinnamon, orange peels, roasted barley, roasted carob, roasted chicory, and natural almond flavor. It also contains blackberry leaf, apple, hibiscus, rose hips, and cocoa beans to round out the flavor profile. You'll be sitting on a beach dreaming of this almond sunset tea in no time.
This robust, nutty almond tea is full of toasty goodness. Almonds are a great source of fiber and protein, as well as they help lower cholesterol, When carob is roasted it does take on an earthiness but it only results in bringing out its rich dark chocolate flavor which will curb any sweet tooth. Chicory root roasted and used in chicory coffee, so its coffee-like flavor provides many with a healthy alternative. Roasted barley tea is very popular in Korea and Japan. It's no wonder that the almond sunset tea was so popular before it was discontinued. In Korea, it is known as boricha or Korean barley tea. In Japan, it is known as Kobashi Mugicha. These little nuggets contain vitamins A and C, in addition to antioxidants. It has been shown that it can aid in digestion, controlling blood sugars, and cooling your body temperature.
For those of you with a sensitivity to gluten or grains, and those that suffer from celiac disease, please consult a physician before drinking. As the barley in this almond sunset tea blend may not be right for you.

This tea is a very good replica of Celestial Seasonings' Almond Sunset, a beloved favorite which was brought back and then dropped again, disappointing all of us in love with this tea. Happily, this teamaster has faithfully brought forth this lovely flavor, along with a small touch of another years-long favorite, Roastaroma. These two flavors defined Celestial back then in the day. Here, several different flavors take their turns coming to the fore; I once brewed this too strong, resulting in a molasses-type taste (a good thing!), although it does not contain molasses; it's completely sugar-free.
The name and nod to CSN are fitting as the 70's were the time of back-to-nature and popularity of health-food stores, which had these scents and so many more of herbs, flowers and spices. And they would brew and served these herb teas for you on demand.
Somehow in addition to the Almond Sunset flavor, this tea achieves an ending note of apple pie/buttery crust - adding a really nice touch. Another tea company offers a tea which they "say" tastes like apple pie and buttery crust, but - it didn't. However, this one really delivers. And it's all very rich and fresh.
I have been getting better at making loose tea and happy to have found your companyb
We (my daughters and I) never had the tea that inspired this blend, but we love Deja Vu. The almond and cinnamon remind us of breakfast pastries. We're certainly going to be reordering this one. :)
This tea was amazing. It reminded me of ginger snap cookies and gave me a warm, cozy feeling inside. I don't know what's going on in the Happy Turtle kitchen, but please don't stop the magic behind these wonderful tea blends.
I took one sip of this tea and was immediately brought back to the times when my late mom and used to drink an old, discontinued almond tea that she loved! I'm so happy that I can enjoy this again and it brings back the happy memories! A plus... this Deja Vu is even better!!! Love it!
