This chocolate Pu-erh black tea blend is inspired by the movie “IT” released in 1990 and Stephen King’s modern masterpiece of the same name, published in 1986 making it is 22nd book.
They float,' it growled, 'they float, Georgie, and when you’re down here with me, you’ll float, too.’ -Stephen King, It
Pu-erh tea, pronounced “poo-air, can be found in the Yunnan Province of China. Pu-erh teas are aged and naturally fermented, sometimes for 50 years or more and stored in compressed bricks or tea cakes. However, lucky for us, Pu-erh tea is also available in a loose leaf. Every 8 ounce cup of Pu-erh tea contains about 70 milligrams of caffeine. Pu-erh tea not only increases energy with all of this caffeine, but it also helps produce lovastatin (used to treat high cholesterol), delivers increased levels of oxygen, and provides high levels of antioxidants and vitamin C due to its fermentation.
I am a huge Stephen King fan, reading everything he writes, and you will need the extra energy from this tea because this novel is huge. I have to admit though, clowns can be very scary, and the malevolent entity that King created which takes the form of a clown, gave me nightmares for days. When I saw it on the big screen, Pennywise completely creeped me out and I never looked at Ronald McDonald the same, ever again.
The fact that this was inspired by a fairy tale, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ doesn’t really make it any better. It has been said that King was under the influence of mind altering chemicals when he wrote ‘IT’, which really explains a lot.
This blend starts with a dark and robust Pu-erh, then adds a bit of chocolate and strawberry. It’s like a valentine gone wrong, but oh so good especially with the creamy marshmallows and hint of hazelnut. We added some red balloon sprinkles because they’re fun and to remind you not to forget your floaties out there!

I know this is little weird but this blend reminded me of strawberries and cream oatmeal and I had to drink two cups haha. I didn't expect this flavor at all. I really love it!
I have a true sweet tooth and this tea is honeycomb for my soul with a smidgeon of stevia. It almost tastes like the marshmallows from Lucky Charms. It's just so sweet and akin to a hug in a mug with just the right amount of depth to it thanks to the pu-erh that reminds me that I'm an adult even though I feel like I'm drinking marshmallow tea hand over fist. I love this tea. It's a desert tea I always want on rotation in my life. Please don't ever discontinue this tea or run out. I have needs. Acute needs.
This is one of my very favorite flavor blends - hazelnut, strawberry, cream with the earthy undertone of pu erh. YUM! Plus the marshmallows are super fun, what's not to love? Do yourself a favor and give this a try!
The earthiness of the pu-erh, the tang of the berries and the creaminess of the marshmallows is perfect!
I want too sure about this sample when I got it, and it wasn't really my cup of tea. It smells very nice, but it just didn't hit the spot. I'm sure many others will be a big fan of this blend!
