This Pu-erh is a Honey Spiced Treat!

Winnie the Pu-erh is a Honey Chai tea blend that mixes Pu-erh and black tea with ginger, lemon peel, cloves, cinnamon, honey flakes (honey, wheat starch, soy lecithin), and natural and artificial flavors. Don't be afraid of the cloves and cinnamon, they just add the tiniest hint of spice for a subtle honey chai flavor.

On blustery days Pooh has a very hard time hunting for honey. He looks forward to returning to his warm abode all day long. Do you know why? Because it is his chance to make a nice hot cup of Winnie the Pu-erh and curl up with a good book while the winds howl outside his door. Pooh simply can't get enough of this blend's Honey Chai goodness mixed with just a slight essence of spice. Some days when the wind is especially fierce, the aroma of Pooh's special tea blend wafts all the way across the Hundred Acre Wood.

Pu-erh is often referred to as a 'dark tea'. These traditional teas are from the Yunnan Province in China and date back centuries. Pu-erh teas are often aged for decades undergoing a long fermentation which gives it the bold, robust, and sometimes earthy flavors. This unique Honey Chai flavor profile that results is often like that of an elegant 30-year scotch in that it provides a lovely cup that you simply want to sit and enjoy slowly.

Many tea drinkers are confused by the many ways this particular tea is spelled and pronounced. We like to use 'Pu-erh' and pronounce it as 'pu-air'. You are also likely to see this tea in what are called tea bricks or tea cakes. Originally, the tea leaves were compressed into these flat round cake shapes or rectangular tea bricks so that it was easier to transport. If you find you enjoy the taste of Pu-erh, treat yourself to opening a brand new Pu-erh cake and breaking off your first cup, you won't be disappointed!

Winnie the Pu-erh

Today was a blustery day. So perfect for this tea. The ginger to calm the belly after dinner. The cloves and cinnamon give it some spicy depth. Honey says here's to the little sweet side that Winnie the Pooh says you always need. Every sip just just asks for you to take another.... And another.... And one more until your cup is empty.
I sure do enjoy this new addition to The Happy Turtle Tea lineup.
