Delicious Amber Rock Sugar
Amber Rock Sugar, also frequently referred to as Belgium Rock Sugar, or German Rock Sugar, is one of our favorite ways to sweeten a cup of tea. This sugar compliments any cup of tea by because it adds a light/mild sweetness without altering the flavor profile of your tea. You may have seen rock sugar in other colors including white and yellow. We prefer the amber color because it reminds us of tea!
Our Amber Rock Sugar is made from raw beet sugar. It can also be found made from raw cane sugar. The sugar crystallizes and naturally forms into what looks like 'rocks' of varying sizes and shapes.
While our Amber Rock Sugar is unrefined and doesn't have that cloyingly sweet taste like regular sugar, it is still sugar, so for those that need to watch their sugar intake keep this in mind. Rock sugar will stay fresh for a long time as long as it is not exposed to water. You can keep it in any type of container, and it will do just fine.
Amber Rock Sugar melts slowly, so remember to add it to your cup or tea pot before pouring in your boiling water. If you are using an infuser, you can add it to your cup or into the bottom of the infuser. This will ensure that as many of the rocks melt as possible before you are ready to drink your brewed masterpiece.
Use 1 teaspoon of amber rock sugar per cup, or to taste. This 1 teaspoon will contain 25 calories, 5g of sugar, and 5g of carbohydrates.
