Chocolate and Rum Tea, Perfect for Game Night!

If you are craving a bit of chocolate and a bit of rum in your tea, try our new chocolate rum tea blend. Memories of a Lyrium Ghost is inspired by the video game Dragon Age. It is full of character and as smooth as a sip of your best rum followed by a chocolate truffle.

We start our chocolate rum tea blend off with a base of Black Tea mixed with Darjeeling Tea. Added to this base are chocolate pieces (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, vanilla), blue mallow flowers, and our very own spiced rum sugar made with turbinado sugar and spiced rum). This blend also contains natural and artificial chocolate flavors.

Darjeeling is grown in West Bengal, India, and is often referred to as the "champagne of teas". This is due to the musky sweetness that it is known for, similar to that of wines made with muscat grapes. There are five harvests of Darjeeling. In Memories of a Lyrium Ghost, we are using a second-flush (second harvest usually occurring in June) Darjeeling which has more of this muscatel flavor that pairs very nicely with the chocolate in this blend.

Blue Mallow flowers have been used across the centuries to promote spiritual healing and peace. When steeped, blue mallow has an earthiness to it, but is similar to tofu in that they soak up the flavors around them, which in our case is chocolate and rum.

Memories of a Lyrium Ghost is part of the custom tea blend program here at Happy Turtle Tea. We were asked to recreate a tea called Sapphires and Rum from Green Alchemy Herb & Mercantile, dating back some 10+ years ago. We hope we have done justice to the original blend.
