WWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! Who Knew Roosters Liked Coconut?

Even clueless roosters get it right occasionally! Inspired by Disney's Moana, this epic coconut Oolong tea blend has Hei Hei crowing loudly morning, noon, and night, for another cup!

Hei Hei's Coconuts is a blend of Oolong tea and Black tea with natural and artificial coconut flavors. Then we add some shredded coconut and a bit of chocolate. Think of a creme egg rolled in coconut. Hei Hei is all about the eggs, so this makes for one very happy rooster!

While some may prefer a straight Oolong blend, we found that our melding of a partially oxidized Oolong with the fully oxidized black tea provides both a full-bodied, yet smooth cup. This carefully crafted union of Oolong and Black teas also provides a very hearty platform for the coconut and the chocolate. In some cases, an Oolong can be overpowered by the heaviness of coconut or chocolate, but Hei Hei's Coconuts is the perfect combination for a light decadent tea that is especially nice after dinner.

Another benefit of our Oolong and Black tea marriage is that it will hold up well to a bit of honey and milk, although many tea aficionados would frown on this, we are always drinking outside the normal cup here at Happy Turtle Tea. Go ahead, give it a try, you know you want to! And for those who really love coconuts as much as Hei Hei, you might also try our Coconut Infused Sugar for your next cup.

This blend does contain coconut, so if you have a tree nut allergy, please refrain from selecting this blend. Also, the chocolate used in this blend does contain soy lecithin if you have any sensitivity.

Allergen note: Soy and Tree Nuts.

Hei Hei's Coconuts

This is a nice, lightly flavored blend of coconut and chocolate, with a very smooth mouth feel. The coconut is slightly stronger at first, but the chocolate notes increase as the tea cools, giving it a well balanced flavor profile. Personally I prefer a more strongly flavored tea right out of the bag, though. I also agree with other reviewers that this tea would do well paired with cream and sugar.

Hei Hei's Coconuts

I was shocked to see this doesn't have a higher average rating! This was my fourth time ordering from this company and this is the first review I've been compelled to make. This tea instantly became a favorite for me, from the first sip. Tastes like a Mounds bar/chocolate coconut Easter egg. It's quite drinkable all on its own, but can handle any permutation of cream and/or sugar as well. Guess the coconut flavoring isn't for everyone, but it's definitely for me!

Hei Hei's Coconuts

Nothing against this tea, it's just not for us. The dry blend has a nice "chocolate beachy" smell, but when steeped it tastes more like you've accidentally inhaled some sunblock. It does get a bit better as it cools, so we're going to try it cold brewed, but if you don't like beachy this may not be the tea for you 😅
