A Star Trek Inspired Tea Blend
This herbal tea for allergies is inspired by those small, cute, furry little balls of fluff known as Tribbles from Star Trek: The Original Series.
Tribbles were simply adorable, and they made this cooing noise, almost like a purr but not exactly. The trouble with tribbles (see what I did there) is that they multiplied, multiplied again, then multiplied some more, until everywhere was overrun with these now not so cute, not so adorable, pesky little creatures.
Allergies kind of end the same way, pesky and more of a problem than you first thought. I created this tea blend with herbs known to help with inflammation for my son who moved to Kentucky and found allergies to be a bit more than he could handle. So, I started experimenting with herbal combinations to help him manage his allergy symptoms without causing a great deal of drowsiness.
The combination I landed on includes Nettle leaf which comes from a pretty little shrub that has been used for centuries in herbal medicine and is the base for many spring tonics for hay fever. Bee pollen, which is also commonly used for seasonal allergies by helping to build a resistance to them. Licorice root, peppermint, eucalyptus, and tulsi which all have mild anti-inflammatory properties, adding boost after boost of allergy fighting ingredients to this tea blend. I also threw in some hibiscus to add a tangy tartness to this herbaceous tonic, along with a little color.
