Top O' the Morning is a traditional Irish Breakfast tea with a robust malty flavor and a lovely amber cup.

"Breakfast tea" is commonly used to refer to black teas that are very robust and served with a traditional hearty breakfast. Breakfast teas are more robust than standard afternoon tea blends.

There are three main types of breakfast teas: English, Irish, and Scottish. English breakfast teas are a blend of black teas originating from Assam, Ceylon, and Kenya, and were historically the first blends to become popular at breakfast. Irish breakfast teas have a strong Assam content which is what gives it a malty flavor and red color. This tea is usually stronger than an English breakfast tea but not quite as strong as a Scottish breakfast tea. Scottish breakfast tea is the strongest of them all and can include teas from China, Assam, Ceylon, Kenya, and Indonesia. Because breakfast teas are hearty, they are destined for the addition of milk or cream, and even a spoonful of sugar. The Irish are noted for drinking their tea as strong as they can get it, and with extra milk. In fact, they are known to put milk in their cup before the tea (this used to prevent fine china from cracking, which caused a serious mess and totally extended the time in which you had to wait for your morning breakfast tea).

This Irish breakfast tea still only contains about half of the caffeine as the same size cup of coffee, but it’s deep, dark, malty flavor will provide you energy all day long, because it’s not just for breakfast anymore!
