A Riverdale Inspired White Tea Blend

This sweet orange blossom tea blend is inspired by Cheryl Blossom and the Netflix series ‘Riverdale’. Like Cheryl, this tea blend appears rich, a little sweet, and just a bit devilish.

Cheryl is the typical high school queen bee, with a penchant for the dramatic. Mean girl doesn’t even begin to describe her character, but somehow, we can’t stop watching this train wreck. If there is one thing that she loves more than attention, it is getting what she wants. She hides the darkness inside of her behind a smile painted red and her vixen appearance. The South Side Serpents weren’t fooled though.

We packed this tea blend full of red fruits and vegetables as an homage to Cheryl’s favorite color. The candied fruits add a touch of sweetness which is definitely a necessity if you want to make it out of Cheryl’s carefully crafted gothic horror story.

Bai Mu Dan is a very fine mildly sweet Chinese white tea also known as White Peony. White tea is one of the most delicate varieties of tea, as the processing is kept to a minimum allowing the leaf to wither dry in the sun and oxidize naturally. White tea is very voluminous so you may prefer to use about twice the amount of tea leaves to bring out more flavor. Because of its delicate nature, it is also very important to follow the steeping instructions provided. If the water is too hot, or it is steeped too long, it can release some bitterness that is unpleasant. If you do not have a thermometer or temperature-controlled kettle, try to use water that is just under a simmer. Also, refrain from adding any additional milk and sugar in order to enjoy the delicate and subtle flavors of this white orange blossom tea.

This is mom’s favorite tea blend, and she insists that you try it iced or cold-brewed, you won’t be disappointed. Also, try mixing it with half lemonade for a true Cheryl Blossom twist.
